സനത്സുജാതീയം എന്താണ്? മഹാഭാരതം അമൂല്യങ്ങളായ ജ്ഞാനോപദേശങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു കലവറയാണ്. ഇതില്‍ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും ജനപ്രിയവുമായത് ശ്രീമദ്ഭഗവദ്ഗീതയാണ്. യക്ഷപ്രശ്നവും, വിദുരനീതിയും, ശാന്തിപര്‍വ്വത്തില്‍ ഭീഷ്മര്‍ യുധിഷ്ഠിരനു നല്കുന്ന ജ്ഞാനോപദേശവും വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമാണല്ലോ. എന്നാല്‍ അത്രയ്ക്ക് പ്രശസ്തമല്ലെങ്കിലും അതിവിശിഷ്ടമായ ഒന്നാണ് “സനത്സുജാതീയം. മഹാഭാരതത്തിലെ ഉദ്യോഗപര്‍വ്വത്തില്‍ സനത്സുജാതന്‍ എന്ന മുനി ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്കു നല്കുന്ന ജ്ഞാനോപദേശമാണ് “സനത്സുജാതീയം” എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.
പശ്ചാത്തലം: വനവാസവും അജ്ഞാതവാസവും കഴിഞ്ഞു തിരിച്ചുവന്ന പാണ്ഡവര്‍ക്ക് സൂചിമുന കുത്തുവാനുള്ള ഇടംപോലും നല്കുവാന്‍ ദുര്യോധന വിസമ്മതിച്ചു. അപ്പോള്‍ പിന്നെ കൗരവരെ യുദ്ധത്തില്‍ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി തങ്ങള്‍ക്കവകാശപ്പെട്ട് രാജ്യം കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്നൊരു വഴി മാത്രമേ പാണ്ഡവരുടെ മുന്നിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. പാണ്ഡവരുമായി ഒരു യുദ്ധമുണ്ടായാല്‍ തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്‍ക്കു സര്‍വ്വനാശം സംഭവിക്കുമെന്നാലോചിച്ച് ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്ക് മനഃസമാധാനം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു. എന്തിനേറെപ്പറയുന്നു. ഉറക്കം പോലും ഇല്ലെന്നായി. ഇതില്‍നിന്നും ഒരു മോചനം നേടുന്നതിനായി ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ തന്റെ ഉറ്റബന്ധുവും ഉപദേഷ്ടാവും ജ്ഞാനിയുമായ വിദുരരെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി. ആ സന്ദര്‍ഭത്തില്‍ വിദുരര്‍ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്കു നല്കിയ വിശിഷ്ടമായ ഉപദേശങ്ങളുടെ സംഗ്രഹമാണ് വിദുരനീതി. താനെത്രയൊക്കെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാലും ആത്മജ്ഞാനം നേടാതെ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രരുടെ ദുഃഖത്തിന് ഒരു അറുതിയുണ്ടാവില്ലെന്നു വിദുരര്‍ക്ക് അറിയാമായിരുന്നു. “തരതി ശോകം ആത്മവിത്” – ആത്മാവിനെ അറിയുന്നവന്‍ ശോകത്തെ മറികടക്കുന്നു – എന്നാണല്ലോ ഉപനിഷത്തിന്റെ സിദ്ധാന്തം. വിദുരര്‍ സ്വയം ആത്മജ്ഞാനിയായിരുന്നിട്ടും ശൂദ്രസ്ത്രീയില്‍ ജനിച്ചവനാകയാല്‍ താന്‍ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്ക് ആത്മജ്ഞാനോപദേശം ചെയ്തുകൂടാ എന്നു കരുതി അദ്ദേഹം യോഗശക്തി കൊണ്ട് സനത്കുമാരന്‍ എന്ന മുനിയെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ട് യഥായോഗ്യം സത്കരിച്ചശേഷം ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്ക് ആത്മജ്ഞാനോപദേശം ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് അഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു. ഇതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് സനത്കുമാരമുനി (സനത്സുജാതന്‍ എന്നും ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഒരു പേരുണ്ട്) ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രര്‍ക്കു നല്കിയ ആത്മതത്വോപദേശമാണ് “സനത്സുജാതീയം” എന്ന ഈ കൃതിയുടെ ഉള്ളടക്കം.
ശാങ്കരഭാഷ്യം: ആദി ശങ്കരാചര്യര്‍ രചിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഭാഷ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഏറ്റവും പ്രസിദ്ധം പ്രസ്ഥാനത്രയത്തിനുള്ള – ബ്രഹ്മസൂത്രം, ഉപനിഷത്തുകള്‍, ഭഗവദ്ഗീത എന്നിവയ്ക്കുള്ള – ഭാഷ്യമാണ്. ഇതിനുപുറമേ വിഷ്ണുസഹസ്രനാമം, സനത്സുജാതീയം, ലളിതാത്രിശതീസ്തോത്രം എന്നിവയ്ക്കും ശ്രീശങ്കരാചാര്യര്‍ ഭാഷ്യം രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതില്‍നിന്നുതന്നെ സനത്സുജാതീയത്തിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വത്തിനെക്കുറിച്ചു നമുക്കു മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാന്‍ സാധിക്കും. അദ്വൈതസിദ്ധാന്തത്തിന്റെ മൗലികമായ തത്വങ്ങളെല്ലാം തന്നെ ആചാര്യര്‍ തന്റെ ഭാഷ്യത്തില്‍ വിശദമായി ചര്‍ച്ചചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. “ജ്ഞാനത്തിലൂടെ മാത്രമേ മോക്ഷം സിദ്ധിക്കുകയുള്ളൂ” (ജ്ഞാനാദേവ തു കൈവല്യം), “പ്രമാദമാണു മൃത്യു” (പ്രമാദോ വൈ മൃത്യു). “കര്‍മ്മം ചിത്തശുദ്ധിദ്വാരാ മോക്ഷസാധനമാകുന്നു” (ചിത്തസ്യ ശുദ്ധയേ കര്‍മ്മ, ന തു വസ്തൂപലബ്ധയേ) എന്നീ സിദ്ധാന്തങ്ങള്‍ ആദ്യത്തെ അദ്ധ്യായത്തില്‍ത്തന്നെ ഭാഷ്യത്തില്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. പിന്നീടുള്ള അദ്ധ്യായങ്ങളില്‍ “ജ്ഞാനിക്കു പുനര്‍ജന്മമില്ല” (ന സ പുനരാവര്‍തതേ), “ജീവാത്മാവ് ബ്രഹ്മം തന്നെയാണ്” (ജീവോ ബ്രഹ്മൈവ നാപരഃ) എന്നീ തത്വങ്ങളും ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. അതുകൂടാതെ മോക്ഷത്തെ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന ഒരാള്‍ക്ക് അവശ്യംവേണ്ട സദ്ഗുണങ്ങളും, അയാള്‍ വിഷത്തെയെന്ന പോലെ ഒഴിവാക്കേണ്ട ദോഷങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ച് സനത്സുജാതീയത്തില്‍ വിശദമായി പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും ഒരു ജിജ്ഞാസുവിന് അത്യന്തം പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രഗ്രന്ഥമാണ് സനത്സുജാതീയം.
സനത്സുജാതീയം ഇ-ബുക്ക്: സനത്സുജാതീയം ഇതിനുമുമ്പ് മലയാളത്തില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നറിയില്ല. ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്‍തന്നെ ശങ്കരഭാഷ്യത്തിന്റെ പരിഭാഷ അച്ചടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളതായി അറിവില്ല. സനത്സുജാതീയം ശങ്കരഭാഷ്യത്തിന് ശിവഗിരി ബ്രഹ്മവിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ ആചാര്യനായിരുന്ന മഹോപാധ്യായ ശ്രീ ഗോപാലപിള്ള രചിച്ച മലയാളപരിഭാഷയാണ് ഈ സന്ദര്‍ഭത്തില്‍ ഇ-ബുക്കായി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ കൃതി ഇതുവരെ അച്ചടിക്കപ്പെടാതിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ ഇതിന്റെ ടൈപ്പിങ്ങിന് ഒരു കൈയ്യെഴുത്തുപ്രതിയാണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചത്. ക്ലേശകരമായ ഈ കൃത്യം വളരെ ഉത്സാഹപൂര്‍വ്വം നിര്‍വഹിച്ച സനത്സുജാതീയത്തിന്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൈസേഷന്‍ ടീമിലെ എല്ലാ അംഗങ്ങളോടും, ഇ-ബുക്കിനു വളരെ മനോഹരമായ കവര്‍ പേജ് ഡിസൈന്‍ ചെയ്ത സുഗേഷ് ആചാരിയോടും, ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നിരന്തരം പ്രോത്സാഹനമേകിയിരുന്ന എല്ലാ സഹൃദയരോടുമുള്ള ഹൃദയം നിറഞ്ഞ നന്ദി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

സനത്സുജാതീയത്തിന്റെ ശാങ്കരഭാഷ്യം പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയത് ശിവഗിരി ബ്രഹ്മവിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ ആചാര്യനായിരുന്ന മഹോപാദ്ധ്യായ എസ്സ്. ഗോപാലപിള്ളയാണ്. ഇദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ന് ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പില്ല. ഇദ്ദേഹം നല്ലൊരു പണ്ഡിതനും, എഴുത്തുകാരനുമായിരുന്നു. ശ്രീനാരായണഗുരുവിന്റെയും, ശ്രീ ചട്ടമ്പിസ്വാമികളുടെയും ഏകദേശം എല്ലാ കൃതികളും അദ്ദേഹം സംസ്കൃതത്തിലേക്ക് പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. വിധിവശാല്‍ കേരളീയരായ ഈ മഹാത്മാക്കളുടെ കൃതികളെ എക്കാലത്തേക്കും അനശ്വരമാക്കാന്‍ പോന്ന ഈ പരിഭാഷകളൊന്നും തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഇതുവരെ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല. ചിലതൊക്കെ മറ്റു ചിലര്‍ സ്വന്തം പേരില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു എന്നും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ശ്രീനാരായണഗുരുവിന്റെ മൂന്നു കൃതികളുടെ (ആത്മോപദേശശതകം, ദര്‍ശനമാല, ജ്ഞാനം എന്നിവയുടെ) സംസ്കൃതവ്യാഖ്യാനങ്ങളുടെ കൈയ്യെഴുത്തുപ്രതികള്‍ സ്കാന്‍ ചെയ്തത് എന്റെ കൈവശമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ അവ മലയാളം ഇ-ബുക്ക് ബ്ലോഗില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുവാന്‍ സാധിക്കില്ല. കഴിയുമെങ്കില്‍ അവയും ഡിജിറ്റൈസ് ചെയ്ത് ഇ-ബുക്കായി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചാല്‍ കൊള്ളാമെന്നുണ്ട്.

But In ” Adhi sankara’s vision of reality ” V.Panoli pointed that ” This bhashyam is not a work of Adhi Sankara “.
I read the malayalam version of that book ” Ariyapedatha Adhi sankaran “.
In that he prove this is not a sankara bhashyam..!

Glad to note your points regarding the authorship of Sanatsujatiyam bhashyam. I have not read this particular book of V Panoli, though I have read a few of his other books. Do you remember what were his arguments to prove that this bhashya was not written by Adi Shankara? All the scholars are of the opinion that many of the works credited to Adi Sankara (except the bhashyas on Prasthanatraya) were not probably written by him.
Still, it is not easy to prove or disprove the authorship of an ancient work like Sanatsujatiyam bhashyam unless some external proof exist. Could you scan the relevant pages from the book and share them with us if you have a copy of Shri Panoli’s book?
Note: Further, this bhashya is included in the “Complete Works of Sankaracharya” 20 volumes published under the guidance of the Acharyas of Sringeri Math. They might have had some reasons to include this work in that series.

സനത്സുജാതീയത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാമത്തെ അദ്ധ്യായം MS Word file-ഉം, അതിലുപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മലയാളം ഫോണ്ടും മെയിലില്‍ അയയ്ക്കുന്നു. ദയവായി അതിന്റെ പ്രൂഫ്റീഡിങ്ങ് ചെയ്യുക. ടൈപ്പ് ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍ തെറ്റിയിട്ടുള്ള പദങ്ങള്‍ ഹൈലൈറ്റ് ചെയ്താല്‍ മതിയാകും. ഈ ഫോണ്ടില്‍ ടൈപ്പ് ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ പ്രയാസമായിരിക്കും. അഥവാ എന്തെങ്കിലും കമന്റ് എഴുതണമെങ്കില്‍ അതുമാകാം.
ഈ മെയിലിന് മറുപടി എഴുതുമല്ലോ. ഇതു മുഴുവനും നോക്കുവാന്‍ എത്ര ദിവസം വേണമെന്ന് മറുപടിയില്‍ എഴുതാമോ? എന്തെങ്കിലും കാരണവശാല്‍ കാലതാമസം നേരിടുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ അന്നേരം അത് എന്നെ അറിയിക്കണമെന്നപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

Thanks a lot for the offer. We are yet to do the proof-reading of Malavikagnimitram and Vikramorvasiyam. Could you please do the proof-reading of Vikramorvasiyam in its pdf file? (which could be downloaded from this blog). You just need to highlight the words/sentences having typing errors. If you find that some words or sentences are missing, please insert a comment there.
Please let me know if you would prefer to do the proof-reading with MS Word file.
i can do the same. but i prefer doing it in MS word since highlighting and review is easy there. cold you mail me the word file of the same ?

There is a story in “Manusmirti” about Brahmav teaching Asuran, Devan and Man and at the end of the class, he asks each one what they learnt. Ultimately all learnt only one letter, which has different meanings. I read long time ago and have noted it somewhere but it is missing. Appreciate if you please provide this story in a pdf
