അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണം: വ്യാസമഹര്‍ഷി വിരചിച്ച ബ്രഹ്മാണ്ഡപുരാണത്തിന്റെ ഉത്തരഭാഗത്തിലുള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന 4200 ശ്ലോകങ്ങളടങ്ങിയ രാമകഥയാണ് അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. വാല്മീകി മഹര്‍ഷി വിരചിച്ചതും 24000 ശ്ലോകങ്ങളുള്ളതും ആദികാവ്യവുമായ വാല്മീകീ രാമായണം ശ്രീരാമനെ ഒരു മാതൃകാപുരുഷനായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണത്തിലെ ശ്രീരാമന്‍ ഭഗവാന്‍ വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അവതാരമാണ്. അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണത്തിലെ ഉത്തരകാണ്ഡത്തിലെ അഞ്ചാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിലെ ശ്രീരാമ-ലക്ഷ്മണസംവാദം “ശ്രീരാമഗീത” എന്ന പേരില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. വേദാന്തപ്രതിപാദകമായ ഇത്തരം അനേകം പ്രകരണങ്ങള്‍ ഈ കൃതിയിലുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇതിനു അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണം എന്ന പേര് ലഭിച്ചതെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. അതോടൊപ്പംതന്നെ ഭക്തിരസപ്രധാനവുമാണ് അദ്ധ്യാത്മരാമായണം എന്നതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു പ്രത്യേകത. ജ്ഞാനവും ഭക്തിയും ഒരു പോലെ സമ്മേളിക്കുന്ന ഈ കൃതി വാല്‍മീകീരാമയാണത്തിനു സമമായോ അതിലധികമായോ ജനപ്രിയമായിത്തീര്‍ന്നത് സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്.
